Recently it has come to light that some very prominent men in ministry have had to step down due to sin. Though the details are unclear, enough was brought to light to cause them to have to leave their positions. The sad part is that you may be reading this months or even years from now, and it still may be relevant. This is a punch in the gut for the church and for the Kingdom work we have been called to. Though God's plan and work will continue, despite the conduct of sinful people, situations like this are initiated by the enemy in an attempt to bring shame to the church and name of Jesus Christ.
What has taken place is not good. But what if my sins were made public? Including my thoughts? What about yours? The Bible is clear that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). I agree that men who are called as pastors/elders are held to a higher standard - above reproach (1 Timothy 3:2-5). But be careful before you throw stones to make sure you are without sin (John 8:7-11). Let's pray for the repentance and restoration of these men (Ephesians 6:19-20). Let's not put our hopes and eyes on people because people will let us down (Romans 3:10-12). Instead let's keep our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2), because He will never let us down...in His grip.
Romans 5:8 But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
