What is real repentance? What it is NOT like is a decision that leads to no change. It is not fire-insurance from hell and no more. It is not life as usual.
What is real repentance? It is a call to salvation. A decisive act; a zealous, eager act. Repentance means that you realize that you're a guilty, vile sinner in the presence of a Holy God, that you deserve the wrath and punishment of God, and that, otherwise, you are hell bound.
Repentance means that you begin to realize that this thing called sin is in you, and that you long to get rid of it, and that you turn your back on it in every shape and form. You renounce the world, whatever the cost - as well as its practice - and you deny yourself, and take up the cross, and go after Christ, your nearest and dearest.
The world may call you a fool or say you have religious mania. You may have to suffer financially, but it makes no difference: that is repentance. Repentance is only going to come if you realize you're not rich, and you're not wealthy and in need of nothing. It comes when you realize you are desperate apart from Christ.
Repentance is a change of the mind that leads to a change of the heart that leads to a change in actions. It is a new you going in a new direction for the glory of the Lord...in His grip.
